Dr. Julius A. Ellrich is a postdoctoral fellow at Prof. Dr. Ricardo A. Scrosati’s Marine Ecology Lab at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish (Nova Scotia, Canada). Julius’ research examines predator nonconsumptive effects on prey populations, the function of ecosystem engineers in intertidal communities, and benthic-pelagic coupling processes along the coasts of Nova Scotia. For his research, he uses intertidal organisms as model systems. Sonja M. Ehlers recently finished her master’s thesis at Prof. Dr. Ricardo A. Scrosati’s Marine Ecology Lab. Her thesis investigated nonconsumptive effects of predatory dogwhelks on mussel recruitment through a manipulative field experiment that she conducted in rocky intertidal habitats on the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia.
