Contributor Biography

Dr Thomas Samba is currently the Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Public Health of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation in Sierra Leone. He is a medical doctor and public health specialist and has served in almost every district in the country. He worked on the front-lines during the 2014/2015 Ebola outbreak to prevent and control the spread of Ebola. Thomas has been a catalyst behind the SORT IT initiative to improve health systems in Sierra Leone. He has ensured that health workers strongly embed operational research within their programmes and show “what works and what does not work” so as to make improvements to programme performance.
