John Sayer is a Clinical Professor of Renal Medicine, Newcastle University and runs the Renal Genetics Service and Family Renal Genetic clinic at Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. His research focuses on the genetics and molecular mechanisms underlying inherited renal diseases, particularly cystic kidney diseases, renal ciliopathies, renal tubulopathies and inherited forms of kidney stones.
