Interested in testing new features of F1000Prime?

We’re looking for eight people – recently qualified or trainee life scientists or clinicians – in the London area to test some new features of F1000Prime. If you’re interested in new tools for scholarly communication, can spare an hour or two on 18th July 2013 and can visit our office on Cleveland Street, please get in touch.

We’re developing new ways for users of F1000Prime to personalize their experience of the website and receive relevant papers automatically. We’ve developed a new algorithm which identifies the F1000Prime sections and recommended articles most relevant to a user’s own keywords and we’re inviting researchers and clinicians to test it with us. We also want to share some ideas and get your feedback on new tools we’re developing – for document authoring and managing journal clubs. The format will be a short presentation about the new algorithm, followed by testing with a member of the F1000 software development team. Group discussion of requirements for authoring tools and a demonstration of our in-progress journal club project will follow.

We will run two sessions of two hours, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, with four spaces available for each session. Lunch will be provided for all attendees along with refreshments throughout the day.

Date: 18th July 2013

Times:
Morning session: 10.30am – 12.30pm
Lunch: 12.30pm – 1.30pm
Afternoon session: 1.30pm – 3.30pm

Location: Faculty of 1000, Middlesex House, 34–42 Cleveland St, London W1T 4LB, UK

If demand is high we will assign places based on the first people to respond.

It should be an exciting day, giving users of F1000’s services the opportunity to contribute to publishing innovation. Contact me to get involved.
