Model organism

Who is that handsome fellow?

It’s one of our Associate F1000 Members (AFMs) wearing the world-famous F1000 T-shirt:

Richard Wintle

Richard Wintle is an AFM in Genomics & Genetics, working with FM Steve Scherer to cover (among other things) the journals Nature Genetics and Genome Research.

Richard is assistant director at the Centre for Applied Genomics, The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Trained in human genetics and molecular biology, his role focuses on management of this 80-person facility, including human resources management, grantsmanship, reporting to funders and other agencies, and management of industry partnerships. When he has time, he also provides scientific input into ongoing initiatives such as the centre’s work on Autism Spectrum Disorder, sequencing studies such as the Canadian FORGE paediatric disease sequencing consortium, and TCAG’s Database of Genomic Variants.

When he’s not writing evaluations for F1000 he blogs at the Science Advisory Board and the Occam’s Typewriter Irregulars–and, of course, he won a Naturally Selected sweatshirt for his desert island playlist.

Now it’s your turn–if you see the F1000 T-shirt in the wild, or wear one yourself, please send us a picture!
