F1000 Posters–for the win?

We’re making a bit of a noise in various circles (even as far away as the University of Iowa), with our F1000 Posters project.
F1000 Posters is, according to independent science writer Joachim Pietzsch, an “invaluable source for scientific information which I really can recommend.” Ivan Oransky, Executive Editor of Reuters Health (and, of course, editor of two of our favourite blogs, Retraction Watch and Embargo Watch) called F1000 Posters a “great opportunity for other scientists to find out what’s being presented at various conferences, and, given that this is F1000, see what others think of the work.”
Now, the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) is taking notice, too. F1000 Posters has been shortlisted for the ALPSP Award for Publishing Innovation 2011. We’re up against some worthy competition: the Berg Fashion Library from Berg Publishers, SCM6 by Silverchair Information Systems, and the Your Better Life Index by the OECD. The Award recognizes “a truly innovative approach to any aspect of publication. Applications are judged on their originality and innovative qualities, together with their utility, benefit to their community and long term prospects.”
We have to give a presentation to the ALPSP Award committee in early July, but the winners (of this, and the ‘Best New Journal’ Award) won’t be announced (not even to the winners themselves!) until the ALPSP annual conference dinner on 15 September this year, near Oxford.
Wish us luck!
