F1000Workspace wins award for Best New End User Product

charleston_advisorIt has been an excellent week for F1000Workspace!

We’ve received news that we were named ‘Best New End User Product at this year’s Charleston Advisor Readers’ Choice Awards.

The Readers’ Choice Awards – now in their fifteenth year – identify and honour the best digital products for libraries, and we are over the moon to receive this recognition.
Three years ago, I was a postdoc working in developmental neurobiology, busy with my experiments and struggling to find the time to keep my references in order. More importantly, I didn’t have time to filter through the thousands of articles published every week to catch the ones that really mattered to my project.

Fortunately, I had the opportunity to join F1000 and immediately started work on a new application – F1000Workspace – to solve these problems… as well as other annoying issues with traditional reference managers.

Working in collaboration with researchers and academics, we decided to tackle three main problems and make it easier for scientists to:

1- Discover relevant papers for their research

2- Collect, organize and access references and PDFs

3- Share and collaborate with colleagues

Now, three years later, we are proud to receive our first award. This is a reward for everybody involved; developers, designers, UX, marketing, sales. Thank you to all our students, academics and researchers that use F1000Workspace and have help us to make it a great tool.

F1000Workspace A highly rated workspace where scholars and researchers may collaborate to write papers, import references from other reference managers, easily share new citations with co-authors, annotate, discuss articles with collaborators, and other great features.
