Last week, the US F1000 outreach team headed to Boston, Massachusetts, for a busy week of talks and meetings. We had a lot of fun, particularly at the Boston F1000 community event. Local scientists and graduate students from Harvard, Boston University, MIT and Tufts gathered over Mongolian BBQ to network and discuss their research and the wider issues surrounding scientific publishing.
Thanks to all who came out to see us, we had one of our largest turn-outs yet! Special thanks must go to our F1000 Specialists, Nihal Okan and Huei-Mei Chen (pictured below) for their help with this event.
Our lucky raffle winners were Maja Klosinska, Samouil Farhi, and Abhishek Shrivastava. Maja won an F1000 mug, Samouil won an F1000Research T-shirt, and Abs won the top prize – a mini beaker and flask shot glass set! I’m sure you can see the glee in their faces in our group selfie below!

If you came to our event but were not so lucky in our raffle, here’s another chance to win a prize – if you spot yourself in one of our photos or if you have your own photos from the Boston meet up, please tweet them using the #F1000meetup hashtag. The person with the most retweeted or favorited photos by April 6th 2014, will win an F1000 mug and other goodies!
Despite the rain and snow, it was a great trip to Boston and a fun night in Cambridge. Stay tuned for future F1000 events near you!
