F1000Research will only offer the publication of academic posters and slides within gateways and collections as of December 2019.
In June 2010, F1000 launched F1000Posters, a free open access repository for conference posters and slide presentations in biology and medicine. This repository expanded rapidly and was eventually merged with our open publishing platform F1000Research, where all authors could publish academic posters and slides to enable the wider visibility of their research that was presented at conferences and other academic meetings. After careful consideration, we have made the decision to only publish posters and slides within our gateways and collections on the F1000Research platform. Gateways and collections are areas dedicated to communities we collaborate with closely and they provide content specific to their dedicated readership and community. Publication of posters and slides to only these portals will both increase the visibility of the content and provide a permanent and structured environment for the rapid dissemination of new research. Collating posters and slides in this way will also enable users to more easily locate research relevant to specific fields or communities in one easily searchable location.
F1000 has always processed, hosted and provided editorial assistance for the publication of posters and slides for free as a service to the research community. We will, of course, be honouring all existing contracts as we make this transition and introduce a new set charge going forward that reflects the costs associated with the processing of these outputs from submission to hosting in perpetuity. We would like to thank all the authors and contributors who have submitted posters and slides to F1000Research to date and hope we can continue to provide a valuable and sustainable service going forward. Posters and slides previously published on F1000Research will continue to remain open access, and for free view and download on the site.
If you would like to create a collection or gateway for the hosting of your own posters and slides then please do contact us at research@f1000.com.
