Now, you have access to more journals and databases than ever, as we expand our support outside the life sciences to include Google Scholar, PubMed, Web of Science, EBSCO, Primo, Ovid, PsycNet, SSRN, JSTOR, arXiV, bioarXiv, NICE.

Citations & bibliography

Workspace was originally created to help you easily find, read and organise your references. But here at F1000Workspace we don’t rest on our laurels and so in response to your feedback, we have developed a feature where you can now create a bibliography and format citations for a single reference. All you have to do is select a group of references and download a file with the bibliography, or copy the citation directly from a single reference to the clipboard, so you can insert it anywhere you wish. APA, AMA, Chicago, Harvard, MLA, Vancouver, are some of the most popular styles supported.

Pro Tip: when you need to create a new reference similar to one that you already have in your library, duplicate it from the reference page (click in) and solely edit the fields that are different, very handy when dealing with book chapters.

Word plugin

We know that writing a report, grant or paper can be stressful. And so, we’re constantly building extra nifty features to reduce your stress levels, such as helping you to check that all your important references are cited in the appropriate places.

Check citations* is a new functionality that highlights all your references cited in the document. It also enables you to navigate between them and see where they were cited in your text, so you can check that the necessary references are cited where needs be.

When you need to share your manuscript with co-authors for their contribution and/or give you feedback, you can now Export references to project*. All the references that are in the document are added to a project that you can share, keeping everybody on  the same page.

Also, if you start to cite in your manuscript using Mendeley or Zotero, you can now convert* them to F1000Workspace just by clicking Update citations

Pro tip: If you can’t find the citation for a piece of text, try the Smart citation suggestions. Read it and check if it was what you were looking for.

* Features currently only available in Microsoft Word for Windows

We hope you’ve found this useful. Watch this space because come the New Year we’ll let you know the exciting features we’ll be bringing out in 2019. Until then, we’re always looking for feedback, so please share any ideas and let us know.
