If our blog could talk, right now it would probably use the much clichéd phrase: “new year, new me!” Today marks the launch of our new and much improved blog network, which we hope you will like as much as we do.
Why a new blog network?
Previously F1000 hosted two separate blogs, one under the umbrella of our flagship article awareness service, F1000Prime, which addressed key issues relevant to researchers, updates about our Faculty, and tools researchers use, and a second blog dedicated to F1000Research, covering topics that, as well as highlighting key articles published there looked at big issues around peer review, reproducibility and open data. At F1000, as a provider of a suite of services to support researchers in their work, we recognise that these subject areas are not mutually exclusive, so we decided to bring them all under one digital roof in a blog network to make it easier for you, our readers, to find content interesting and relevant to you.
What’s new?
More blogs
The launch of our newly designed blog network sees the addition of two new blogs. The new F1000 blog will cover news about open research, open data, open peer review, reproducibility, information on careers or challenges faced by researchers, and updates about F1000. The F1000Workspace blog will provide updates and developments on our research collaboration, reference management and authoring platform, as well as posts discussing the importance of these areas in performing your research.
Easier navigation
We have made it easier for you to navigate through the blogs using the dropdown menus at the top of this page. Additionally, you can find content based on topics, tags, contributors, or simply search for content relevant to you.
Don’t miss a thing
You can also keep up-to-date with the happenings on our blogs by subscribing to our monthly newsletter using the sign-up box to the right-hand side of this post. Straight to your inbox you will receive details of our most popular and talked about blogs for the previous month. It’s now even possible to make sure you don’t miss a thing while on the move as our new blog network is completely mobile responsive.
Last year was a very exciting year for us at F1000 with some highlights being the launch of Wellcome Open Research and F1000Workspace winning an award for new best end user product. This year will be just be as exciting, so it’s only fitting that we have a new blog network so you can keep abreast of all the news from us and the fantastic researchers that we work with.
And finally
Putting together this new blog network was no mean feat, it took a lot of work from various people who deserve huge thanks. All technical work was carried out by the freelance developer Steve Weintraub and spearheaded in-house by our Communications Director, Ruth Francis. Some big thanks are also due to various colleagues from our design and development team in F1000 who assisted with the launch of this new blog network.
This is just the beginning, so stay tuned for terrific blog posts from the staff of F1000 and our guest bloggers. If you have any suggestions or feedback about our new blog network – or would like to write for us – please do not hesitate to drop us a line press@f1000.com.
