Conferences we are at in September

As for many of you, our summer break is over, we are back into the swing of things, and the month ahead is packed with conferences. In this blog, we are giving you a roundup of where our F1000Research team is going and where we’ll be speaking.

incf-cropThe annual International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility Congress will be held on September 3-4 in Reading, UK, and once again we are proud to be a sponsor. The conference covers all aspects of neuroinformatics, including data- and knowledge-bases of the nervous system; tools for the acquisition, analysis, and visualization of nervous system data; and theoretical, computational, and simulation environments for modelling the brain.

We will be there promoting the INCF Community channel, which has one dedicated conference and workshop channel to host posters and slides from the meeting and a second channel dedicated to publish research which includes submissions from our recent neuroinformatics article series. #NI2016

ECCB2016_logo_short_RGB_1000x1111-e1444720860274The European Conference on Computational Biology (ECCB) will take place in The Hague, the Netherlands from the 3-7 September. It is the main computational event in Europe and welcomes scientists working in a variety of disciplines, including bioinformatics, computational biology, biology, medicine, and systems biology.

As well as attending, we will be hosting this year’s posters and slide presentations in the dedicated ECCB channel. The conference is jointly organized by ELIXIR, who have a dedicated track to showcase to the community the latest outputs and services from across the initiative and these will be available through the ELIXIR gateway. #ECCB2016

The 2nd International Antibody Validation Meeting will be held on 15-16 September at the University of Bath, UK, and will bring together researchers from academia and pharmaceutical companies as well as antibody suppliers to discuss how to improve antibody validation for the life science communities.

Antibodies are the most frequently used tools in any life science laboratory. Although validation studies are crucial in providing the information needed to reliably interpret the results, these studies are rarely discussed. This is a unique meeting where you can hear all about the latest developments in antibody validation, interact with leaders in the field and contribute to initiatives aimed at improving the reliability and reproducibility of antibodies in scientific research.

Our Associate Publisher Michael Markie will be speaking at the discussion forum on the first day of the meeting. #AbVal16

godan-cropThe Global Open Data for Agriculture and Nutrition (GODAN) hosts its Summit on 15-16 September in New York, bringing together world leaders, researchers, farmers, students and others – public, private and non-profit – united around a collaboration on agriculture and nutrition data openness. F1000 Managing Director Rebecca Lawrence will be attending and speaking about the benefits of publishing and sharing data to the wider community. More about that in a later blog. #GODANSummit2016

5826b5_2329fc27211946779b463d84b9271bb0The inaugural conference of The European Health Innovation Collaborative will be held on the 22 September at Imperial College London, UK. The conference will host current and future leaders in European healthcare, science and medical devices and get them together to partake in learning, networking and innovation to promote healthcare improvements across Europe.

Associate Publisher Michael Markie has been asked to speak on the panel “The future of medical journals and getting published in the digital age”.  He will discuss the topic of research identification, how medical researchers find information they are looking for and subsequently measure its quality. #EUHIC
