Announcing the F1000 Specialist of the Year 2015

Specialist badge

It’s award season again! And that means it’s time to announce the F1000 Specialist of the Year 2015.

Last year was extremely busy for many of our F1000 Specialists, which made the decision even harder than in 2014. After a long round of deliberations, we’re pleased to highlight the achievements of five F1000 Specialists, one of whom takes away the title for F1000 Specialist of the Year 2015.

Cue drum roll please!
And the winner is…

Congratulations to Tamica Collins (Columbia University, USA)! Tamica co-hosted us for a talk at Columbia University and organized an F1000 talk for members of the American Women in Science organization. She also beta tested F1000Workspace, provided us with feedback throughout 2015, helped with the F1000 Community Meetup in New York City, and mentioned F1000 in several one-on-one meetings with her colleagues.

Tamica said “For me being an F1000 Specialist has been an absolute pleasure! I joined F1000 as a Specialist because I believe in their goal of making the lives of scientists easier and providing them with a platform to share their work and ideas with the world. As a scientist, F1000Workspace has brought a level of organization to my professional life that I didn’t think was possible, and F1000Prime provides me with some of the most up-to-date articles in my field. I enjoy sharing what F1000 has to offer and seeing the positive impact it has on faculty, post- docs, and graduate students at Columbia University and around the world. I’m looking forward to another great year as an F1000 Specialist!”

And here are the runner-ups:

Shang Su (Tsinghua University, China) for presenting F1000Workspace at his school.

Grinu Mathew (Cold Spring Harbor Labs, USA) for co-hosting us at Columbia University.

Gary McDowell (Tufts University, USA) for inviting us to give a talk at his university.

Niraj Bhatt (CSIR-IGIB, India) for giving a talk about F1000 at his school.

Tamica will receive an Amazon gift certificate worth $150 and an F1000 gift bag. Our runner ups will also receive a bag of F1000 goodies.
