Top honors for our Faculty

It was a great start to the new year for some of our Faculty, whose work was recognized by none other than Queen Elizabeth II or President Obama.

Georgina MaceMace (Faculty Member in Conservation & Restoration Ecology) was named Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the UK’s New Years Honours. She received this recognition for her services to science.

 

Alastair CompstonKellyCompston (Head of Faculty for Neurological Disorders) and Deirdre Kelly (Faculty Member in Pediatric Gastroenterology & Hepatology) were both named Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the New Years Honours – Compston for services to multiple sclerosis treatment, and Kelly for services to children and young people with liver disease.

LevinMeanwhile, in the USA, Simon Levin (Section Head for Theoretical Ecology) was awarded the National Medal of Science for Biological Sciences, which he will receive in a ceremony at the White House.
