More Shark Week—More Elasmobranch Biology and Conservation

August 29th sees asquareshark new addition to Discovery’s Shark Week: ShWeekend. Because 1 week just isn’t enough.

To coincide with the occasion, F1000Research has teamed up with the 19th Annual Scientific Conference of the European Elasmobranch Association. Attendees are invited to share and publish their academic posters and slides in our dedicated Elasmobranch Biology & Conservation channel. By doing so, each participant will be able to extend the visibility of their research and broadcast their findings beyond the conference hall to a wider audience: you!

João Correia, conference co-organiser and member of the Portuguese Association for the Study and Conservation of Elasmobranchs, explains the aim of the meeting and the added-benefit of collaborating with F1000Research:

We’re focusing specifically on bridging the gap between academia and the public aquaria community. We feel both worlds have much to learn from each other, when it comes to elasmobranch research and husbandry practices. Publishing posters and slides on F1000Research will help to connect these communities even after the conference has finished.

We couldn’t agree more, because 3 days just isn’t enough.

The 19th Annual Scientific Conference of the European Elasmobranch Association will be held in Peniche, Portugal from October 9th-11th. For those interested in attending, Not-so-early-bird registration and abstract submission is available until August 31st. Otherwise, be sure to visit the Elasmobranch Biology & Conservation channel following the conference to view the latest research on sharks, skates, rays and chimaeras.

What’s more, the sharing of academic posters and slides on F1000Research is open to all and free of charge. Articles can also be submitted to the Elasmobranch Biology and Conservation channel for as little as $120.
