Alan Hall

Alan HallWith sadness, we mark the passing of Alan Hall, Head of the Cell Biology Faculty since the beginnings of F1000 in 2001. Alan was the Chairman of the Cell Biology Program at Sloan-Kettering, as well as editor in chief of the Journal of Cell Biology. He was best known for his discovery that Rho, a Ras-related GTP-binding protein, was a molecular switch critical to actin filament activation, a finding that shook up the field of cell motility at the time.

We at F1000 send our deepest sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues. ASCB has published a touching memorial for Alan here.
