Founded in 1913, the American Association of Immunologists (AAI) is one of the foremost organisations serving the vast and ever-changing field of immunology. It is also the organisation behind the publication The Journal of Immunology, the most highly cited journal in this area of study.
Every year, the AAI presents career awards to honour outstanding researchers and their achievements in the field of Immunology.
We’re delighted that this year the most prestigious of these, the AAI Lifetime Achievement Award is going to Emil Unanue, Professor of Pathology and Immunology at Washington University in St. Louis and head of the Antigen Processing & Recognition section of F1000Prime’s Immunology Faculty.
Professor Unanue receives the award in recognition of his “career of scientific achievement and contributions to AAI and fellow immunologists”. He is the latest in a growing list of F1000Prime members to receive this prestigious award, including Head of Faculty Philippa Marrack and Immunology Section Heads Arthur Weiss, James Allison, Susan Swain and William Paul, who was also this year’s recipient of the AAI Excellence in Mentoring Award. Also in this year’s AAI awards list was F1000Prime Faculty Member Kristin Hogquist, who received the Distinguished Service Award.
The Washington University in St. Louis press release on Professor Unanue’s achievement can be read here, and a full list of AAI awardees can be found on the AAI website.
Our congratulations to all of this year’s winners!
