This week’s news from the open science world:
- The Bouchout Declaration for Open Biodiversity Knowledge Management is open for signatures. “The purpose of the Bouchout Declaration is to help make digital data about our biodiversity openly available. It offers members of the biodiversity community a way to demonstrate their commitment to open science.”
- It’s the second week of Open Science Week (it’s a two-week “week”) at opensource.com. You can find all posts here. A few highlights:
- Open Access Button is looking for a volunteer communications officer for 3-5 hours.
- On our own blog, we hear from a researcher why he published his data as a data note.
- Last week, Science Careers published a feature about data sharing, profiling key people in that area, such as rOpenSci’s Karthik Ram.
- And some older news found this week: In May, a study in Norway showed that most Norwegian researchers want to make their research data open.
The logo above is the “official” open science logo, which the Open Science Federation has made available under a CC0 license for anyone to use. We’ll include it with our open science roundups so you can immediately see what it’s about!
