It is with great sadness that we note the death of F1000Prime Faculty Member Andrea Luigi Tranquilli, who passed away last week at the age of 58.

Professor Tranquilli, a highly respected figure who specialised in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology, was the director of the obstetrics and gynaecology clinic at the University of Ancona. He joined F1000Prime in September 2012 as a Faculty Member in the Hypertension section of the Cardiovascular Disorders Faculty.
