As we approach the end of the year, we reflect on the achievements of our F1000 Specialists and welcome nominations for the F1000 Specialist of the Year 2013.
Having only launched in June this year, the programme has grown rapidly, now standing as a network of over 130 scientists and clinicians worldwide. Already Specialists have been contributing to the next generation of online scientific tools, for example, helping to test F1000Prime’s personalized homepage and Journal Club tool. F1000 will be launching more features across 2014, and will look to the Specialists to help us ensure our services continue to meet their needs.
Over the last six months, a number of Specialists have given presentations about Faculty of 1000, and other innovations in scientific publishing, at their institutes. In addition, three well-attended networking events, #F1000meetup, have been held – in London, New York and, most recently, Heidelberg. These events gave junior researchers an opportunity to come together and discuss science and publishing over a beer, with F1000 picking up the tab. Due to the success of these three events, F1000, with the support of our Specialists, will be hosting more meet-ups in 2014. If you would like to nominate your city as the next location, please let us know.
It has been a busy year for our Specialists and now the year is drawing to a close, we would like to recognize and reward their efforts. If you know a Specialist who you would like to see named as F1000 Specialist of the Year 2013, please nominate them.
Criteria for nomination (one or more of the following):
- Demonstrated support for or shown leadership in open, post-publication peer review
