From Associate Faculty Member to Outreach Director

I’d like to introduce myself – I’m Kinga Hosszu, and I‘ve recently joined as Outreach Director for the Americas. Before joining the F1000 staff, I was part of the F1000 Faculty for over two years.
My love affair with F1000 started at Stony Brook University. While a graduate student and postdoc, I served as an Associate Faculty Member for F1000, co-recommending top articles with my mentor, Dr. Berhane Ghebrehiwet. It was a terrific experience – every recommendation honed my thinking and allowed me to think critically about an article. Although some see peer-review as yet another dull professional obligation for scientists, to me it was a vital process to practice for journal clubs and lab meetings. More than anything, F1000 was a stage to share my ideas with colleagues.
Joining the F1000 staff has been a pleasure. Of course, I’m not the only one to join the team after having served on the Faculty. My colleague, Sam Maung, part of the editorial team, is also an Associate Faculty Member who has joined the F1000 family. As Outreach Director I serve as the point of contact for scientists in the Americas. I enjoy learning about their experience with F1000, and I love to find creative ways to share my knowledge with them.
In the future, I will keep you up-to-date on what’s happening with me, as well as write more about how my experience on the Faculty of F1000Prime helped me as a research scientist. I’ll also post about other science topics that attract my attention. In the meantime, you can find me on Twitter @KingaF1000.
