F1000 Specialists – the surge continues

Our F1000 Specialists programme continues to grow rapidly across the world. The most applications have been received from the USA, but a ground swell seems to be emerging in China with a number of applications and appointments in the region.

Since the end of July, we have received more than 40 new applications in total from scientists who want to help in raising awareness and contribute to the continued development of F1000, in exchange for various rewards. We welcome the latest successful applicants, bringing us close to 100 F1000 Specialists globally, and highlight some more of their achievements.

News from our network of F1000 Specialists

Sowmini Kumaram organized a talk at Rutgers, giving an overview of all four F1000 services which led onto a productive Q&A session, allowing her institute to better understand F1000 and the processes we follow. The event was live tweeted by Cindy Chen from F1000, and is archived on Storify.

Jerome Korzelius attended the EMBO Meeting 2013 and presented his work on drosophila intestinal stem cells in the “Stem Cell Signaling” session. Jerome will be reporting on the conference here on Naturally Selected soon.

In a couple of weeks time, Graham Steel and Jo Young are hosting an event entitled ‘Open [access, data, source]: science & data in the 21st century’ in Edinburgh featuring F1000Research as part of Open Access Week – we wish them the best of luck.
