F1000 Community – the inaugural meet-up in London

Faculty of 1000 look forward to welcoming local members of the F1000 Community to our inaugural meet-up, here in London. This is a free networking evening, aimed at junior researchers, to share with you the latest developments at F1000, and introduce the F1000 Specialists programme. The F1000 Community includes Faculty Members and Associate Faculty Members; authors of articles recommended in F1000Prime and authors of articles published in F1000Research; users at subscribing institutes and F1000 Specialists. But the F1000 Community is equally about scientists and clinicians we don’t yet know. We extend this invitation to all local life scientists and clinicians who simply want to know more about F1000.

This event is also an opportunity to get to know each other a little better – we hope you’ll have a fun evening talking science, medicine and publishing technology, meet some interesting people and have inspiring discussions. We are always looking to improve our services, and would love to know what you think of F1000 and other tools for discovering and publishing research.

Drinks and snacks are on F1000, and there will be give-aways for attendees including free personal subscriptions to F1000Prime and discounts on article-processing charges for F1000Research.

Where: The Parcel Yard, Kings Cross, London, N1C 4AH
When:  From 6pm on 16th October 2013
How: Please sign up for a free ticket (numbers are limited) here

F1000 staff and Specialists hope to be organizing more meet-ups in other cities in the coming months. If you have an idea for an F1000 Community event near you, please contact us.

I believe this will be a great evening for F1000 members. I hope those of us out of London will plan to travel when a full course to teach F1000 members on outreach activities for the journal. I look forward to that but for now, i wish to start acting within my community on encouraging young researchers to publish their posters online. I wish you guys all the best.
