Congratulations to F1000Prime Hematology Faculty Member Eirini Papapetrou on receiving the New Scholar Award in Aging from the Ellison Medical Foundation for Haploinsufficiency of protein-coding genes as an age-related disease mechanism.
The New Scholars in Aging Award is given to candidates selected from medical institutions in the US on an invitation-only basis. The award supports new investigators with up to $100,000 per year in funding for a maximum of four years and provides “… a safety net that allows bright young scientists to staff their laboratories, collect preliminary data, and organize research programs of sufficient momentum to obtain ongoing support from other sources”.
Dr Papapetrou joined F1000Prime in 2009 as an associate of Faculty Member Dr Michel Sadelain, and became a full Faculty Member in the Hematopoietic Stem Cells section in 2012. She has also co-authored an F1000Prime Report with Dr Sadelain on Reconstructing blood from induced pluripotent stem cells.
Information on all of this year’s awardees can be found at the Ellison Medical Foundation website. Our congratulations again to all the recipients!
