Tony Pawson

With regret, we mark the death of Dr Tony Pawson. Tony was a research leader at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute and Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Canada. He joined us as a Head of Faculty in Cell Biology in 2001, right from the beginning of the Faculty of 1000 project.

Many have paid tribute, not least, the other Heads of the Cell Biology Faculty, Alan Hall, Gary Borisy, Randy Schekman and Steven McKnight, who have said:

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Tony Pawson has recently passed away. Tony was a much valued colleague and was widely respected as an international leader in the field of cell biology. As a founding Head of Faculty for Cell Biology within Faculty of 1000, his support was invaluable in helping get the service off to a successful start, and his sage advice will be sorely missed.

Please join us in sending our deepest condolences to his family and friends.

We echo their sentiments – our thoughts to his family, friends and colleagues.
