Roger Brumback

It is with great sadness that we note the tragic death of Professor Roger Brumback, former Faculty Member in Neurological Disorders, who passed away last month.

Professor Brumback was professor and former chairman of the department of Pathology at Creighton University, and joined F1000Prime in March 2011 as a member of the Developmental & Pediatric Neurology section.

Professor Brumback was well known for his research into Alzheimer’s disease, and the Brumback Award for Outstanding Achievement was established by the Oklahoma Alzheimer’s Association in recognition of his work. He also described himself as a “born-again conservationist”, after the discovery that a species of owl monkey was named for him (A. brumbacki). At the time of his death, Dr. Brumback was also Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Child Neurology and the Journal of Evidence-Based Complementary & Alternative Medicine.

An obituary for Professor Brumback has been published by the Child Neurology Society, and can be read here.

Our thoughts go out to his family and colleagues.
