Have presentations, will travel: F1000 on the road

In the next few weeks, F1000 staff and guest speakers will be presenting our various products in different cities in the UK and US and attending a number of conferences. As usual, you can expect to see some of our staff exhibiting at major scientific conferences, but we have a few extra events planned as well.

Most notably, F1000Research is hosting a reception during the Experimental Biology (EB) meeting in Boston. We will be joined by a team of amazing speakers, who will discuss the importance of open, rapid, post-publication peer review. This event is free to attend, so if you’re in the Boston area or visiting for the EB conference, we hope to see you there. We ask that you register beforehand, so we know how many people to expect.

The complete list of events at the time of writing – we’re rapidly adding new dates – is below. You’ll notice a few talks at universities. These are educational talks discussing developments and problems in scholarly publishing, in the context of what F1000 is doing to help change science communication for better. We’ll cover topics like innovations in peer review; data sharing; new measures of research impact; and tools for keeping up with the scientific literature. These talks are aimed at graduate students and postdocs, and should stimulate discussions about the ways we publish and read about research – now and in the future. This is an initiative of Iain Hrynaszkiewicz and myself (Eva Amsen), as part of our recently-appointed roles as Outreach Directors for F1000Prime and F1000Research, respectively.
