This year marks 150 years since the founding of the National Academy of Sciences. On the 28th April, at their 150th annual meeting, the NAS will honour those who have made outstanding contributions to physical, biological, and social sciences.
Our congratulations to David Karl, Section Head of Ecosystem Ecology at F1000, on being awarded the Alexander Agassiz Medal for leadership in establishing multidisciplinary ocean-observing systems, detection of decadal regime shifts in pelagic ecosystems, and paradigm-shifting insights on biogeochemical cycles in the ocean. David joined the Ecology Faculty of F1000 in 2004, and is currently director of the Center for Microbial Oceanography: Research & Education at the University of Hawai’i.
Congratulations as well to former Faculty Members Solomon Snyder, for receiving the NAS Award in the Neurosciences, and Jeffrey Gordon, recipient of the Selman A. Waksman Award in Microbiology.
