F1000 'Faculty Member of the Year' Awards 2011

F1000 has over 10,000 Faculty Members worldwide highlighting the best research in biology and medicine. In 2011, the Faculty submitted over 12,000 evaluations, contributing to the current total of 115,000+. To recognize our Faculty Members’ dedication and efforts, we are delighted to announce the first F1000 ‘Faculty Member of the Year’ awards.

Naturally Selected Finches

One member from each of our 32 Faculties will receive an award for the most significant contribution to their specialty area in 2011. Winners were chosen by our Judges and Heads of Faculty.

Sarah Greene, Editor-in-Chief of F1000, said,

“Scholarly publishing is being re-invented in the digital era, and post-publication peer review has finally begun to prove itself as central to the transformation. This would not have been possible without the dedication of the world’s top scientists who joined F1000 to provide evaluations of articles that impact their research. We thank the entire Faculty for their insightful contributions these past 10 years, and applaud the award winners for their superb analyses of critical research in 2011.”

  1. ferdinando boero says:

Thanks a lot for the award, it is much appreciated (of course) and let me thank my associates. Two of them are now Faculty Members: Joachim Claudet and Fabio Bulleri. The other two are Stanislao Bevilacqua and the new entry Valeriano Parravicini. The merit is also theirs!

  2. Niles Lehman says:

Yes thank you for honoring me with this award, but much of the heavy lifting was done by my associate, Dr. Aaron Burton, who deserves most of the credit for scouring the literature for interesting articles and preparing reviews.
