Our congratulations to two of our F1000 Members, Art Horwich and Ulrich Hartl, who have jointly been awarded the 2011 Albert Lasker Basic Medical Research Award.
Art and Ulrich have been with Faculty of 1000 since the very beginning, in July 2001. The Award is in recognition of their work on protein folding, specifically their identification of chaperonins, which help proteins fold correctly within the cell. When protein folding is disrupted, it can lead to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s.
