Posters from World Congress for Sexual Health 2011

The 20th World Congress for Sexual Health took place in Glasgow last month. We’re pleased to be hosting posters from the conference.

There are currently 19 posters available, covering a broad range of interests from how the “hidden observer” technique can overcome shyness in response to sexual questionnaires (especially among the erotophobic), to an holistic approach to repairing female genital mutilation–that is, the importance of treating the psychological as well as the physical, and the necessity for multidisciplinary teams.

And, rather topically, there’s a poster examining the influence of the media on the high rate of caesarian sections in Brazil. Although most women initially intended to deliver vaginally, stories in the press about complicated deliveries and inadequate health care made them seek surgical intervention.

F1000 Posters is an open access archive of research presented in poster format at conferences, and comes with the caveat that the research is usually of a preliminary nature and has not been through the peer review process.
