Zombie apocalypse

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention should be your first stop for ‘credible, reliable’ health information. It’s good to see that they’ve finally woken up to a very real yet often overlooked threat, and have a blog post detailing the things you should get ready in case of a zombie apocalypse.

Of course, it’s not about zombies; they don’t exist (or do they?). Rather it’s a very practical and readable guide to civil defence–something we’re not that big on in the UK, probably because we don’t get much in the way of serious flooding or earthquakes (although half an inch of snow and it all goes to hell in a handbasket).

The basic zombie survival kit consists of

  • Water
  • Food
  • Medications
  • Tools and Supplies (I assume this covers firearms, cricket bats, etc.)
  • Sanitation and Hygiene
  • Clothing and Bedding
  • Important documents
  • First Aid supplies

So now you can all be well prepared if there’s a zombie apocalypse following the Rapture on Saturday. Frank Peretti meets Shaun of the Dead, perhaps?

  1. And in the case of the economic collapse, read John Quiggin’s “Zombie Economics.”
