recall:
Ignorance is bliss: Sometime knowing more is not better — e.g. when experiencing “pleasure” whether it be a glass of wine, chocolate, or an orgasm. Knowing the neuro-biological response for any of these could detract from our enjoyment of them. In fact, I worked for an exclusive wine bar and loved drinking some of the finest wines in the world there. After attending the intro sommelier class with my co-workers, I was so annoyed by their “expert” comments after every sip…I preferred drinking with my “ignorant” wine-drinking friends. The same has been true eating cakes with my friend, a world-famous pastry chef and having a physical relationship with my friend who specializes in male sexual disfunction…the more they knew, the less they let their emotions carry them away to the magic of the moment. So, de-mystifying is great and fascinating — but not always.
